Diners in Sunderland due to bring big economic boost to the city
Restaurant Week kicks off today
Restaurants across Sunderland say a significant economic boost is on the menu as Restaurant Week kicks off in the city.
Today (16 March) is the first day of the scheme, where customers are able to try out menus at a reduced price. The offers, at a range of eateries. will run until Sunday 24 March.
Nathan Outwaite, owner of Spent Grain, said: "It brings people from all over the north East. Last there were over 18, 000 vouchers downloaded. If every voucher has two or four people, then that's a lot of people coming into the city.
"It's great for bringing people into your restaurant all at one time. It's also beneficial over a longer period, as it creates repeat customers."
