A Cramlington man is starting 8 weeks of training where he will swap his suit for boxing gloves to raise money for charity.

Geoff Bowman decided to take on the white collar boxing challenge after he lost his uncle to a heart attack last year and his aunt was diagnosed with breast cancer.

He's hoping to raise £500 each for Cancer Research UK and The British Heart Foundation.

Geoff is taking on the challenge along with 40 other average Joe's to take part in a fighting championship in October.

He told Metro Radio “Over the last year my family has been affected by both Heart Disease and Cancer and as such I am undertaking a little challenge to raise money for these two great charities. Having never even put on gloves, I am taking part in 8 weeks training before being paired with another novice of equal ability for 3 rounds of 2 minutes on fight night.”
