Officers from our region's police forces will star in a new Channel 5 programme.

Joint policing team Cleveland and Durham Specialist Operations Unit will appear on a new series of the popular Police Interceptors show.

They were followed by camera crews for several weeks earlier this year, who captured them searching for wanted criminals, carrying out drug raids and attending serious road traffic accidents.

Crews were briefed at stations in Middlesbrough and Thornaby before accompanying the officers out on routine and pre-planned operations

The first programme of a new, ten-part series will be aired at 8pm on Monday 14th September, and includes incidents in Darlington, Thornaby, Coundon and Redcar.

Chief Insp Alison Jackson, from the CDSOU said; “This is a wonderful opportunity to showcase the work our staff do every day to keep our communities safe and tackle criminality.

“Viewers will see first-hand the variety of work that our teams are faced with across Cleveland and Durham. And the series will show that despite often operating in very difficult circumstances, they conduct themselves with professionalism and with the public at the heart of everything they do.”
