It’s claimed people with eating disorders aren’t being treated as a priority until they lose even more weight.

That is what a Cullercoats woman has told Metro Radio.

Erin Ruddick was told she wasn’t a priority because her body mass index wasn’t low enough.

The 24-year-old was given anti-depressants but says that wasn’t addressing the problem, which for her was eating.

Erin said: “People only start to give you the help that you need because there’s such a big waiting list, you end up getting worse to get better.”

The charity B-eat say eating disorders cost the UK £15billion and say it needs to be identified earlier.
