Officers investigating a suspected stalking incident in South Tyneside have released the image of a man who they would like to identify.

An investigation has been ongoing ever since a reported incident at Fellgate Metro Station between 12pm and 12.30pm on August 28.

It was reported that a female was sat on the Metro and became uncomfortable when a fellow passenger began to watch her.

Suspect police would like to trace

She then left the train and it was reported the passenger proceeded to follow her. The girl quickly returned to the station, where she approached two members of the public and told them of the man’s suspicious behaviour.

The suspect then got on a Metro train and left the area.

Now, as part of their enquiries, officers have identified a man who they would like to trace. He was in the area at the time of the incident and could have valuable information that can assist the ongoing investigation.

The man, or anyone who recognises him, is asked to contact police via the ‘Tell Us Something’ page of our website or by calling 101 quoting crime number 101603E/22. Alternatively, you can email 3315@northumbria.police.uk.
