Plans to improve North East culture are being unveiled in Durham.

It's all part of 'Case For Culture' which wants to attract investment in arts and heritage over the next 15 years.

It's been drawn up by an alliance of arts organisations in partnership with the area's 12 local councils.

Initiated by the North East Culture Partnership (NECP) the Case For Culture (C4C) is considering what culture has to offer the region and what can be done to make it even more distinctive, vibrant and sustainable.

Ros Rigby is Chair of the steering group behind it, she told Metro Radio;

"A lot of people acknowledge the work that has been going on in Newcastle/Gateshead with organisations, but of course that isn't it. The region has a lot of gaps, there's still areas where more investment would be valuable. We really want to see a kind of re-balancing across the region."

The C4C is focusing on the wider North East region from the Tees Valley up to Berwick, and is due to be launched at Durham Castle.
