A burst water main is causing chaos in Newcastle and Gateshead today as a main road has had to be closed off.

Diversions are in place around Scotswood Road where floodwater is covering the road.

Traffic can't get past from the bridge to the roundabout at B&Q, and that's now causing delays nearby on the A1 Western Bypass.

Eldon Square also had to be evacuated earlier because they lost the water supply in the city centre - but it's now back open after checks on the sprinkler system were completed.

Northumbrian Water have said that people all around Gateshead and Newcastle might experience some disruption to their supplies, but engineers are on the scene trying to get it fixed.

The latest update says they hope to have the supply back to normal soon.
