We are appealing for information following a hit-and-run collision involving a child in Newcastle.

At around 5.20pm yesterday (Sunday 3rd Sept) afternoon emergency services were called to a collision between a mini bus and a nine-year-old male cyclist on Hazeldene Avenue in Kenton.

The driver of the mini bus got out of the vehicle and spoke to the child. He then got back in the van and moved it a short distance up the road before fleeing the scene on foot.

The child was then taken to hospital by paramedics where he is currently undergoing treatment.

Enquiries to trace the driver are ongoing but we are now appealing for you to get in touch.

The driver is described as white, of medium build, with dark hair and thought to be aged in his 40s. He was wearing a black jacket.
