Police searching for missing Gateshead man Jordan Patterson have sadly found a body.

Jordan, 25, was first reported missing on Monday, February 1, after failing to turn up for a medical appointment.

Enquiries at his home address in the Rooksleigh area of Winlaton failed to locate him and Jordan failed to pick up his prescription medication..

CCTV of his last movements were released to the public in a bid to trace his whereabouts.

But sadly a member of the public contacted police on Wednesday afternoon (February 17) reporting he had found the body of a man in Blaydon Burn.

Officers attended the location and, although formal identification is yet to take place, they do believe it is Jordan.

Detective Chief Inspector Angela Hufton said: “We have been searching for Jordan since he was reported missing and were still hopeful of locating him fit and well.

“This is a devastating outcome for Jordan’s family and friends and they will continue to receive the support of specialist officers.

“I want to thank everyone who shared our appeals and those who contacted us with information they believed could have assisted our enquiries.

“We would ask that the privacy of Jordan’s family is respected at this difficult time.”

Police do not believe there to be any suspicious circumstances and a report will be prepared for the Coroner in due course.
