Blyth Man Jailed For Assault
A man has been jailed for 16 years after a brutal assault on his partner.
It happened in the early hours of New Year's day 2015, when 48-year-old Antony Robinson, of Patterdale House in Blyth, threatened the woman with a knife. He rained down a succession of vicious blows on the woman, who managed to break free and raise the alarm at a neighbour's house.
The 42-year-old woman suffered several fractures and lacerations to her face during the attack.
Robinson was convicted of causing grievous bodily harm with intent and, on Monday, August 24, he was jailed for 16 years at Newcastle Crown Court.
Detective Inspector Dave English, said:
"This was an intensely violent attack on this woman who sustained a series of facial injuries.
We hope that this substantial prison sentence will give the victim the opportunity to feel that this man has been punished for his actions and allow her to rebuild her life.
It also sends a clear message to people who commit domestic violence that the courts take these types of violent offences extremely seriously.
We would always ask for victims of domestic violence to come forward and contact the police for help, safeguarding victims and bringing offenders to justice is a priority for the force."
