Detectives are appealing for information after a robbery at a wine shop in Newcastle.

Just before 7pm on Wednesday evening police received a report that a man had entered Sandhu Wine and News on Cedar Road in Fenham carrying a knife.

He threatened the male staff member and demanded he hand over the contents of the till. He has then fled with around £150.

Thankfully the staff member was not injured but he was left very shaken up by the robbery.

Enquiries to locate the man responsible are ongoing and police have now appealed for anyone who may have seen him in the area to get in touch.

He is described as white, around 5ft 7in tall, aged in his late 20s to early 30s and wearing a dark coloured hoodie with his hood up.

At this stage, detectives do not believe there is any link between this robbery and the attempted robbery at the Chinese restaurant in Walker on Tuesday.

Anyone who may have seen a man matching the description of the offender in the Fenham robbery are asked to call police on 101 quoting log 900 03/01/18 or email central.intelligence@northumbria.pnn.police.uk.
