Officers investigating a series of assaults in Newcastle are appealing to the public for information.

Shortly before 10.30pm on September 17, police received a report three males had been taunting members of the public as they walked through the underpass connecting Exhibition Park to Brandling Park.

The males have then assaulted five separate people in a series of unprovoked attacks, causing their victims a variety of injuries, with some requiring hospital treatment.

An investigation into the assaults has been launched and officers are treating the incidents as linked.

Detectives have already carried out a range of CCTV enquiries and spoken to a number of witnesses but they are now appealing to the public for information and have released the description of two males they believe were in the area at the time. It is thought the males might hold information which can assist.

Both males are described as average height, slim build, with dark short hair and were both wearing dark jeans. One was wearing a dark T-shirt and the other a dark coloured hoody.

The males, or anyone who knows them is asked to contact police immediately. Anyone with information who has not yet come forward is also encouraged to get in touch.
