Police and appealing for information after two beloved parrots were stolen from Saltwell Park in Gateshead.

The parrots are both African Greys, known as Fozzy and Saucey.

It was reported that two offenders took the birds from their enclosure at around 2pm on Wednesday, September 21, and then made off in a car which was parked on East Park Road.

An investigation has been launched and police are working closely with Gateshead Council to try and return them.

Neither bird is ringed and park staff are increasingly concerned for the welfare of Fozzy and Saucey, as they need to be kept as a pair.

One bird on its own will quickly become distressed.

Saucey is known for repeating language he hears, including some swearing, which makes him very distinctive.
