This Easter half term, Alnwick Castle is bursting with seasonal fun for all the family. From hands-on medieval tile making and cannon-firing displays, to laugh-out-loud jester shows and beautiful live medieval music, there's something to delight visitors of all ages.

Little historians can journey into the bustling world of a Victorian kitchen or watch majestic birds of prey in flight with thrilling falconry displays. Temperatures are expected to be mild, so it’s the perfect time to enjoy the grounds in full bloom and experience the magic of Alnwick Castle.

Medieval Tile Making with Company of Artisans (7-11 April)

Time: 10:30am – 4:30pm

Discover the stories beneath your feet in this hands-on tile-making activity. The Company of Artisans will guide visitors through the symbolic patterns that adorned medieval floors, featuring kings, queens, stars, and mythical creatures. Learn how these tiles were made and explore the creativity of medieval masons. Don’t miss Charlie’s interactive demonstration on drawing and design, showing how castles and cathedrals were imagined from the ground up.

Cannon firing displays with Newcastle Garrison (12&13 April)

Time: Hourly from 11:00am to 4:00pm (weather dependent)

Join the Newcastle Garrison Live History Group for thunderous cannon displays throughout the day. Experience the might of a Napoleonic replica cannon fired hourly by costumed reenactors. Prepare for big bangs, rich historical storytelling, and high drama on the Gun Terrace.

Wandering Medieval music with Trouvère (16-18 April)

Times: 11:30am, 1:30pm & 3:00pm

Let the enchanting melodies of Trouvère transport you to the medieval courts of yore. With bagpipes, flutes, harps, and vielle, this talented ensemble will fill the castle grounds with music spanning five centuries. Look out for live performances throughout the day, including "Twenty Instruments in Twenty Minutes" and the "Five Century Musical Gallop" – unforgettable musical journeys that delight all ages.

Tastes Through Time – Victorian Kitchen (18-21 April)

Time: Activities throughout the day, 10:30am – 4:30pm

Step into the shoes of Alnwick Castle’s 19th-century staff and explore life below stairs in a bustling Victorian kitchen. Meet the Housekeeper and Kitchen Maid as they prepare for an important Easter feast. Discover traditional tools, period ingredients, and the intricacies of table setting during the Victorian era.

Victorian Falconry displays with Raphael Historic Falconry (22-27 April)

Travel back to the 1800s with stunning flying displays by Raphael Historic Falconry. Their elegant Victorian falconers bring the noble art of falconry to life, with dynamic flights, engaging commentary, and a peek into the lives of the birds and handlers who once entertained British nobility.
