A total of 20 people have now been arrested after a window was shot at in Sunderland.

It happened on Craigshaw Square in the early hours of Monday, September 12.

Those arrested - 19 men and one woman - are on bail while enquiries continue.

Police have also recovered the two vehicles involved in the shooting; a silver Mitsubishi Shogun Pajero and a grey Peugeot 307 Estate.

Officers are now appealing for anyone who may have seen these vehicles either separately or together at the time of the incident, specifically in the area of Hylton Castle, to contact them.

Superintendent Brad Howe said: "Police enquiries are ongoing into this matter and are expected to be continuing for some time to come. It remains a very active enquiry we want to make it clear that we will not tolerate the illegal use of firearms in our communities.

"We continue to ask for help from the community, we'd particularly like to hear from anyone who may have seen either or both of the vehicles in the area of Hylton castle during September 12.
