New research shows that 43% of the nation admit to using takeaway food apps every day.

The survey by Bupa Health Clinics of 2,000 respondents found that 61% of us use apps, video streaming services or digital assistants that could be classed as time or energy saving. Though despite the time that we’re saving a third of the nation don’t use this time to exercise or focus on their health.

When asked how their lives would differ were their apps and digital devices taken away from them, one in six said they would be more likely to exercise and the same number would be more likely to cook for themselves.

North East GP Dr John Canning said:

“The obvious thing which is there which shouldn’t be there is saturated fat – and of course what aren’t there are fruit and vegetables, which are quite important.

“There’s very few things you’d completely rule out forever – but there’s always a balanced diet and that’s one of things we should try to achieve."

Arthur Davey, director of Fat Hippo said:

"They’re good for our smaller restaurants – where we can’t fit that many customers in, so we can offer a delivery service at home.

“People should always thinkn about eating healthily but other restaurants on the app are healthy, so people do have the option to go for something indulgent or clean eating."
