It’s nearly 50 years old but Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, at The Metro Radio Arena until New Years Eve, is more amazing than ever!

That’s partly to do with the show itself – Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber’s writing of the biblical tale and hugely catchy songs work perfectly. A boy sold into slavery by his jealous brothers isn’t the most obvious starting point for a catchy musical, but it's suprisingly fantastic!

The opening night of the show, which is running until new years eve, wowed a packed out crowd last night! Leading lad Joe McElderry put on a standout performance. Rocking out to all of the famous hits such as 'Any Dream Will do' and 'Joseph's Coat!'

Speaking after the show, Joe said 'After performing Joseph in theatres from January until July this year, to finish it here at The Metro Radio Arena in Newcastle is amazing. I used to come here and watch the artists that I look up to! Steps was the very first concert I went to.'

'This is the first time I've been home for Christmas for five years, so it's extra special to get to do this. I'm not happy that this journey of Joseph is ending, I could carry on and do another 6 months, so come new years eve I'll be a blubbering mess.'

'It's been amazing to work with award winning Westend producer Bill Kenwright again! He's a real pro, so being under his guidance for this show has been an amazing experience.'
