WATCH: Elton John performs for commuters at St Pancras International
He donated the piano to the station.
Elton John wowed commuters at London's St Pancras International station yesterday when he sat down at a upright piano situated in the middle of the concourse.
Playing a few of his classics the crowd grew and grew as commuters realised who was playing the new piano. The 'Rocket Man' singer then signed the piano with a silver pen, saying "my gift to the station, OK?", to which the crowd responded with a cheer.
Elton John, who was en route to appear on the Graham Norton Show later that day said, “I’ve heard so much about the pianos in St Pancras and thought it was such a great idea...Who knows, maybe there’s a new Elton amongst London commuters!".
Pianos have been a permanent fixture at the station for the past seven years having been introduced to encourage live music. Passers-by are invited to sit down and play - whatever their ability.
