WATCH: Russell Brand has opened up about his mum's serious car crash
He cancelled his tour last month
Last month Russell Brand announced his decision to cancel his 'Russell Brand Re:Birth' tour following a recent car accident that left his mum with serious, life-threatening injuries. Now the comedian has opened up about the serious car crash saying she had "A head-on collision" and the person left the scene.
Speaking on Loose Women Russell revealed details of her injuries saying, "She had terrible, terrible injuries – broken back, broken neck, abdominal injuries. But she is making a remarkable recovery due to her spirit and the incredible National Health Service and the people that work there."
At the time of the car crash Russell took to Instagram to reveal the worrying news captioning the video with 'Re:Birth delayed or cancelled due to my Mum’s accident'. In the video Russell said, "I won't be able to do the rest of my Re:Birth tour. If you've got tickets they will be refunded or possibly rescheduled, but i can't really imagine performing at the moment because I feel to sad and connected to this. I apologise, but of course it is circumstances beyond my control."
Russell then spoke about how his mum has had cancer six times, with her last chemotherapy session only taking place one month ago.
In a second video Russell went on to thank the NHS for saving his mum's life and praised them for the way they operate by calling them the "soul of this country", something he echoed in today's interview as he called the NHS "incredible".
At the time messages of support came in from fans who said, 'I’m so sorry, I wish your mum a full and speedy recovery. During his interview on Loose Women, Russell also opened up about his mum's previous battles with cancer saying she had had cancer six times, "She only finished chemo a month before the crash" he explained, "She still goes for regular checks. But she bounces right back. My mum wants to live, she's full of spirit."
