After Rio Ferdinand's heart-wrenching documentary last March on bringing up his three children after his wife passed away, it's fair to say that everyone was rooting for him to find love again. Four months after the documentary aired, he and Kate Wright tentatively went public with their relationship.

They've not been overly public with their affections, but the little snippets they have given us have sounded lovely - like the fact that his children, 11-year-old Lorenz, nine-year-old Tate and seven-year-old Tia, all very much approve of Kate.

Things got a bit more serious for the couple last November, when 26-year-old Kate moved into Rio's family home with his three children.

But now, there's cause to get a little bit excited for the couple - as 39-year-old Rio has revealed that marriage is on their minds.

Rio told the Daily Star in his typical blunt style, "We do talk about it - but I’m not going to sit here and give you a date."

HA. That told us.

He also spoke about how his kids are rooting for a wedding, saying at BBC Sport’s World Cup media launch, "My little girl wants a replica dress and all this stuff. The kids talk about that a lot, 'What role am I playing? Am I holding the ring? Who’s doing this?' They have it planned."

Rio added that he was "proud" of Kate for doing such an "amazing job" as their stepmother, saying, "She has dealt with it in a mature fashion, in a majestic sort of way."

He recently told The Times magazine that his children absolutely adore Kate, and that "having a female in the house definitely helped them."

He added, "They run past me sometimes to go to her. I've had to go through a period of being very, very open, and men aren't normally like that naturally.

"So having that extra person in the house who is female, who has that softer touch, I think is vitally important for the kids."

We're rooting for you guys!
