Ed Sheeran’s ‘X’ hits two million UK sales
X is one of the best selling albums this millenium
Ed Sheeran’s latest album ‘X’ has surpassed two million sales.
The award-winning album reached the landmark earlier this week, although it was only released nine months ago.
He joins a star-studded list including Adele, Take That, Michael Buble and Emeli Sande, in becoming one of the fastest album sellers this millennium.
He said: “So chuffed to hear X has just hit the 2 million mark in the UK! Looking forward to getting back there for my Wembley shows in July and celebrating with you all.”
According to the Official Charts Company, ‘X’ achieved its biggest sales in December 2014, when it sold 214,000 copies in just seven days.
Ed’s achievement also means that he currently has two albums in the top ten best-selling albums of the 2010’s, with ‘X’ at five and ‘+’ at six.
The only other artists to achieve this feat are Adele (‘21’ and ‘19’) and Michael Buble (‘Christmas’ and ‘Crazy Love’).
This is just the latest success for Ed after he recently picked up two BRITs for British Solo Artist and Best British Album at this year's prestigious ceremony.
He will perform three sold-out shows at London's Wembley Arena in July.
