Women's football in Norfolk has 'taken off'- says local coach
The Lionesses play their first game of the Euros on Saturday evening- with North Walsham's Lauren Hemp expected to feature
A football coach in the county tells us the women's game has 'taken off' here and could grow stronger if England retain the Euros.
North Walsham's Lauren Hemp and the lionesses kick off their campaign in Switzerland tomorrow night against France.
Kick off is at 8pm on Saturday. England face the Netherlands after this on Wednesday the 9th of July from 5pm (GMT).
"To have somebody like Lauren Hemp come Norfolk is really inspiring"
Rosie Filby works for Norfolk's Football Association:
"It will be a tricky campaign for the Lionesses but I hope the confidence and momentum that we can get in the early stages will help to propel us to the final and maybe further.
"To have somebody like Lauren Hemp come Norfolk is really inspiring for young girls and we're hopeful that we can use that to get more girls interested in and playing football from a young age.
"What would be really helpful when it comes to growing the women's game further is having more coaches to help us.
"Having that provision more readily available is key to ensuring more women can play the game at any level".
