Wells Carnival returns today for the first time in three years - after a hiatus enforced by Covid-19.

Around 100 events are planned across the next week, including the traditional Carnival Day procession featuring floats and fancy dress.

Other attractions include a teddy bear picnic, raft racing and a funrun.

There's also going to be a sand-castle and town crier competitions, gillying on the quay and the crowning of the Carnival Royals.

Originally known as the Wells Regatta, the traditional event has been held for well over 100 years.

It draws thousands of people to the town every year - both locals and people from across the UK.

The event is run as a non profit, with money made being used to fund the event. Local charitable groups also use it as a chance to carry out vital fundraising.
