Two sites open in King's Lynn and Norwich for walk-in booster jabs
Children who haven't been jabbed can also get innoculated
People in Norwich and King’s Lynn can get a COVID booster jab without booking ahead at two sites.
From today (Monday) ,Castle Quarter in Norwich and Shakespeare’s Barn in King’s Lynn will offer boosters to anyone eligible.
They are also offering clinics for 12-15-year-olds who have not already received a vaccination at school.
Tens of thousands of people in Norfolk and Waveney have already come forward and booked their COVID-19 booster vaccine via the NHS national booking service and walk-in options are now available to make getting the vaccine more convenient and accessible.
There are plenty of local appointments available via the national booking system which is updated regularly with new slots. People are advised to keep checking the system if they are eligible and yet to book their COVID-19 booster vaccine.
More locations across Norfolk and Waveney are also being added to the national booking system for bookable COVID-19 boosters, including a new site in Lowestoft. Two more locations in North Norfolk will also be offering COVID-19 boosters imminently.
As a health and care system, Norfolk and Waveney has prioritised booster vaccinations for those most at risk from COVID-19 including the immunosuppressed, clinically extremely vulnerable and carers. #
Frontline health and care staff have also been encouraged to get their jabs as soon as possible. Boosters have been provided through bookable appointments but more vaccination sites are set to open on a walk-in basis at various locations across Norfolk and Waveney to ensure eligible people, whatever their age and where they live, can access vaccinations easily and making it as convenient for them as possible.
Shakespeare Barn Vaccination Centre, St George’s Courtyard, King Street PE30 1EU:
• COVID-19 boosters: 7 days a week, 8.30 am to 4.00 pm, and later on Tuesdays through to 7.30 pm.
• 12-15 year olds: 8.30 am to 4.00 pm on Saturdays and Sundays, and 4.30 pm to 7.30 pm on Tuesdays
Castle Quarter Vaccination Centre, 100 Castle Meadow NR1 3DD:
• COVID-19 boosters: 7 days a week, 8.30 am to 4.00 pm, and later on Thursdays through to 7.30 pm.
• 12-15 year olds: 8.30 am to 4.00 pm on Saturdays and Sundays, and 4.30 pm to 7.30 pm on Thursdays.
Cath Byford, Chief Nurse, NHS Norfolk and Waveney Clinical Commissioning Group, said: “The majority of people who are currently eligible for their COVID-19 booster vaccine are people over the age of 50 and based on their preferences, we know this group of people prefer booked appointments.
“It is really good to see so many people come forward for their COVID-19 booster vaccine with almost all vaccine appointments booked. We continue to open more appointments on the national booking system in line with vaccine supply and staff who are able to vaccinate, so please do keep checking as additional appointments are added on a regular basis.”
Mrs Byford added: “Winter months are always a pressing time for the NHS so it is vital that as many people as possible get both their COVID-19 booster and flu vaccinations."
Norfolk and Waveney is continuing to perform strongly in the national vaccination roll out. So far, 93% of people aged 18 and above have had one vaccine, while 90% have had both doses. This compares with national figures of 90% and 85% respectively. The data also shows that more than 27,000 people aged under 18 have already received one dose of the vaccine.
First and second dose vaccine appointments can be booked through the national booking service by visiting nhs.uk/covid-vaccination or telephoning 119. When invited, people can book at one of the vaccination centre, pharmacy or general practice sites that are available through the national booking service. You do not have to be registered with a GP or have a NHS number to be vaccinated, but it is not yet possible to book an appointment via the NBS without one. For those not registered with a GP or without an NHS number, a growing number of walk-in and pop-up sites are available. Anyone in the UK can choose to register with a GP.
