A Ukrainian women, who's been living in Sprowston since 2017, wants more to be done to help the 'shocking' situation in her home country

Natalia Scott was at a protest at Norwich City Council last Sunday afternoon, where local people showed their support for the country and it's people.

She told us that she and other fellow countrymen an women in Norfolk are now focussing their efforts to help those back home: "We are eager to help Ukrainians as much as we can, Ukrainian soldiers, civilians and refugees.

"It's horrible to feel powerless and you can't enjoy normal life here if you think that your family are in constant danger".

Mrs Scott went on to say that more must be done to help her fellow country-men and women: "I really appreciate everything that they have already done and I'm really happy that the UK is one of our strongest ally, it's very important.

"I don't know how I'd feel if I were living in a country that wasn't supporting Ukraine in this situation. Thank you so much, but I know you can do more, please do it for us.

She concluded by explaining why the Home office are right to widen their visa scheme for Ukrainians: "Our husbands are British, some of my Ukrainian friends are already British citizens, but under the previous rules they can't bring their family here.

"These people they don't need to be looked after by Government, they will be looked after by us. But we couldn't bring them here. For example, my daughter is 22 years old and because she's over 18, I'm not able to take here her".

Russia's invasion of Ukraine is entering its seventh day, with new sanctions imposed on the country by the West each day.
