Sixteen estate agents across Norfolk have joined as one to collect humanitarian aid for Ukraine.

The initiative was set up by Sowerbys, who are based in King's Lynn and will see donations points set up across the county.

Once everything is gathered, local removal company Hadley & Ottaway will drive donations to a Sussex-based charity, who will then get them across to Eastern Europe.

Richard Cheal is from the estate agents and part of the team that set up the appeal.

He told us how this was all started and being made possible: "I saw that a collection point had opened up in mid-Norfolk and thought why aren't we doing that, that's accessible and we can do it straight away.

"Then it came to me, why are we doing it on our own, let's ask others to join us. That's why we reached out to other estate agents, saying let's for once probably for the first time ever, join forces and do this to make it a really meaningful and purposeful event.

Hadley & Ottaway are prepared to go to any of our centres once they get an email saying 'we've got stuff for you to collect'. They will then take all that stuff down to their depot which is in the town of Watton, they are going to store it there until the end of our campaign on the 3rd of April. Then week commencing April 4th they are going to very kindly drive the whole lot down to Sussex".

Mr Cheal also went on to tell us what they're looking for: "Bedding is really important. There's a huge need for mattresses and camp-beds as well, because a lot of people out there are now sleeping on stony cold floors at the moment.

"There's a lot of baby goods that are going to be needed, nappies, dummies to powered milk. Toiletries and all sorts of plates, cups and basic essentials are also going to be needed as well.

"We're also looking for things that are long-life, like milks and powders along with sealed tinned food and baby-foods. Medical supplies are going to become increasingly important, there's a vast different array of things there that would be beneficial both to adults and children".
