Three students have been fined £10,000 for hosting a party on Bowthorpe Road on Saturday night, 10th October.

The University of East Anglia (UEA) "fully supports" the actions of the police.

In a statement, the university said: "“We fully support the actions of the police. Students, like everyone else, have to adhere to the law and where there is a breach of the rules they should expect to face the same consequences as others in the community.

"We have issued regular reminders about following the rules to all students both on and off campus and in addition to the police action we will also be looking into this matter and taking appropriate action.

"In the vast majority of cases our students are behaving responsibly."

Meanwhile, around 130 students are currently self-isolating on the UEA campus.

It's after 47 students on campus, and 26 students off campus, tested positive for Covid-19.

In a statment on Friday 9th October, the UEA said: "Our own testing initiative scheme, working in partnership with the Earlham Institute has helped to identify more than three quarters of the students who have tested positive on campus, which demonstrates the importance of testing and making campus safer for everyone.

"We are following the Government guidelines on households isolating and we currently have around 130 students self-isolating on campus, who are being supported throughout this process."
