In a letter to parents, John Grant School in Caister-on-Sea, said they've now had a total of six positive tests amongst staff and are awaiting further results.

Following discussions between the Senior Leadership Team and Chair of Governors, the school has decided to shut completely for this week, with the intention of reopening next Monday.

The school said they hope the move will give them time to "re-group" and ensure everything is cleaned to try and "break the chain of infection".

Headteacher, Pam Ashworth, also confirmed the school has been working with the Local Authority Outbreak Management Team.

She added: " All the teachers have been preparing work for pupils to try and continue at home in case this situation arose. Some of this may be able to be emailed to you, but some will need to be sent or delivered. A few of us will be in school tomorrow to try and work out how this can happen.

"If you receive work from school for your child, please have a go with them, but we do understand that many of our pupils struggle to do “school things” at home.

"There is therefore no pressure to complete the work, so please do not worry. If however, your child does do something (whether planned by school or not) that you feel is worth letting us know about, we would be delighted to hear about it."

Norfolk County Council say Kenninghall Primary School in Norwich has also decided as a result of a positive case of coronavirus and the number of close contacts.

Cliff Park Ormiston Academy in Gorleston and Hemblington Primary in Blofield announced last week they would also be closing due to coronavirus case.

Hemblington is expected to reopen on Thursday 19th November, while Cliff Park plans to open again next Monday.
