Thrigby Hall Wildlife Gardens say 19 year old Dua, who'd lived there since 2005, was being treated issues typical of a very old big cat.

However in the last few weeks her condition started to go downhill, leading keepers to take the decision to put her down.

In a statement, the attraction near Great Yarmouth said it was "incredibly difficult, but it was the right decision for Dua".

The gardens is home to one other tiger, male Kubu.

Scott Bird, Zoological Director at Thrigby Hall, said: "Dua's passing leaves an irreplaceable void in our hearts and in the exhibits she called home."

"She was not only a magnificent tiger but also an ambassador for her species, inspiring countless visitors to appreciate and support tiger conservation efforts.

"We will forever remember her with gratitude and love. She was a favourite with many visitors so this will be an incredibly sad loss for all that knew her."
