Thetford man charged and CCTV appeal launched after kidnap and assault in Brandon

A Thetford man has been charged with kidnapping and weapons offences, after a man was allegedly taken to an industrial estate in Brandon and assaulted.

It happened between 10 and 11am on October 22, when the victim went to an address on London Road to meet another man.

He then got into a car with him, before the pair picket up two other men.

The victim was then driven to the industrial area where the attack happened.

Shahid Mhamood, 62, of Arlington Way, os charged with kidnapping, blackmail and possession of an offensive weapon.

He appeared before Ipswich Magistrates’ Court on October 26 and has been remanded ahead of an appaerance at Ipswich Crown Court on November 23.

A 38 year old man and a 35 year old woman have been released on bail after being questioned on suspicion of kidnapping and possession of a Class B drug.

Police are now trying to trace the drivers of three vehicles seen in the Norwood Road, Richmond Road and Wimbledon Avenue areas at the time, as its believed they may have useful information.
