A man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder following, after a man was stabbed in Hockwold, near Thetford.

Police were called just before 9am yesterday (Thursday 29 February) following reports a man had been stabbed in the neck.

The victim, a man in his 80s, was initially taken to the QEH Hospital but later transferred to Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge for treatment.

Officers tells us he remains in a critical but stable condition having sustained life-threating injuries.

A man in his 20s was arrested at the scene on suspicion of attempted murder - police tell us the victim and suspect were known to each other.

He was taken to Wymondham Police Investigation Centre for questioning, where he remains.

Detectives have been given extra time to question him.

They say a police cordon will remain in place while investigations continue.
