A new temporary banking hub is now open in Holt.

Based at The Venue Community Centre and run by the Post Office, it'll allow people to withdraw and deposit cash, pay utility bills, top up gas and electricity and chat with a local community banker.

The last permanent bank in the town closed in 2022.

North Norfolk MP Steff Aquarone was involved in the campaign to bring bank hubs to North Norfolk: “To see the Banking Hub open its doors was both surreal and exciting and I am so proud of the dedicated team here who have put so much effort into achieving this milestone.

"I have campaigned to bring banking hubs to North Norfolk for several years- they are essential for communities and allow residents and businesses to complete vital tasks like paying utility bills and topping up their gas and electricity locally, and allow them to talk to a real person from their own bank in confidence and in person.

"What a great team of people and a fantastic achievement that is focused on supporting the community here.”

Mark Eldridge, Banking Hub Operator, and Sophie Jay, Banking Hub Manager, said: “We are absolutely thrilled to be bringing this vital service to the community of Holt and the surrounding areas.

"We know that access to cash through banks has been increasingly difficult recently and we truly hope that we can start to fill that gap by providing all of our services along with access to the High Street banks.”
