A teenage boy has been questioned after a boat slipped its moorings in Great Yarmouth earlier this week, before colliding with Haven Bridge.

It happened at around 7:30pm on Monday (January 23) and involved a vessel linked to offshore energy which was being kept on a secure site.

Haven Bridge remained closed into Tuesday morning, before structural engineers confirmed the crossing was safe to use.

A knife was reportedly discovered close to the boat's moorings during the police investigation, with the vessel suffering 'significant' damage.

The teenager was arrested yesterday and questioned at Great Yarmouth Police Station.

He has since been released on bail.

Police are still appealing for witnesses or anyone who captured CCTV or dashcam footage to come forward.
