A new housing development in Norfolk has been completed in good time and on budget, despite the considerable challenges caused by the pandemic and very wet conditions this winter.

The £2 million scheme, called Chantry Court, in the centre of Attleborough, has been delivered by Breckland Bridge, the joint venture partnership between Breckland Council and developers The Land

Group. The partnership has previously delivered housing in Mileham, near Dereham, and the £8m Thetford Riverside Leisure Complex.

The new homes have been constructed adjacent to the former Chapel Road Primary School, comprising two striking detached dwellings on the corner of Cyprus Road and Chapel Road, with a further eight two and three bedroomed terraced homes. These houses will help to meet local demand for housing and have been proving very popular, with 3 units sold, 6 under offer and only 1 still available to be purchased.

Cllr Sam Chapman-Allen, Leader of Breckland Council, commented:

"I am delighted this new housing has been made available, despite the challenging circumstances during the construction phase. The new properties will help increase housing stock in the area for local residents and support the district to grow and thrive."

Land Group Director, David Winch said:

"The whole team have done a fantastic job to get this excellent housing project completed in good time and on budget, bearing in mind the current climate of both Covid-19 and the large amount of rain we have had over the last few months. We are heartened by the extremely positive reaction from home buyers. The Attleborough development underlines the focus Breckland Bridge continues to have on providing and improving the housing stock across the district. We have completed a successful residential scheme at Mileham and the popular leisure complex in the middle of Thetford. There are several eye-catching projects in the pipeline at Colkirk, Shipdham, Litcham and Banham, all in the Breckland district."

Wellington Construction is a long established residential and commercial construction business based in Lowestoft. Managing Director Paul Pitcher said:

"We are delighted to be part of this excellent partnership initiative which is providing much-needed new homes in Attleborough. When we started construction in December 2019, we couldn't have imagined the challenges we would face in 2020, but it is a tribute to our team, sub-contractors and wider supply chain that we are delivering these new homes within a month of the original completion date."
