Police are treating a large fire at the former St Andrew's Hospital in Thorpe St Andrew early this morning as a suspected arson.

Officers were called at 5:38am at Northside, where seven fire crews were at work talking the flames.

No-one is believed to have been injured during the incident.

Emergency services remain at the scene and a cordon is in place.

Anyone with information is being urged to contact Norfolk Police on 101.

Built in 1814 as Norfolk County Asylum, St Andrew's has been disused since 1998, although parts of the hospital site have been converted into homes.
