Speedway: King's Lynn look to secure much needed win against Sheffield
It will be the first home match in charge for newly appointed Stars manager David Hoggart
King's Lynn will be hoping for a much needed win when they return to Premiership action at home to Sheffield tonight.
It’s the first of two meetings in five days at the Adrian Flux Arena for the Stars, with A47 rivals Peterborough to follow on Monday.
Sheffield have a strong record of success in Norfolk since the two clubs returned to the same league in 2021.
Their first visit this season saw them take two 5-1s in the first two races in the KO Cup, whilst in the league match five weeks ago, they enjoyed four maximums in the opening five heats.
No. 1 Artem Laguta returns after missing the Stars' recent defeat at Wolverhampton, whilst in the middle order Ben Barker guests for the injured Michael Palm Toft, on a night where six of the seven Premiership clubs are in action.
New reserves Simon Lambert and Anders Rowe make their first home appearances since coming into the team.
It will also be a first home match in charge for recently appointed Stars manager David Hoggart, who has strong links with Sheffield as a former promoter and manager at the South Yorkshire club.
He said: “We know that Sheffield are going to be a huge challenge. They absolutely romped away with it the last time they came here, so we anticipate a tough meeting.
“Sheffield have got a team of big-track specialists, and they will relish the thought of coming to King’s Lynn on Thursday, so we’ve got a real challenge on our hands.
“But we’ve got to go for every single point. We’ve got to be thinking no last places, and when you’re at home you’ve got to think about hitting the opposition early, right from the start of the meeting, and maximising those opportunities.”
