Specialist sonar equipment has been deployed today (23/2) as Norfolk Police continue their search for 65-year-old David Cubberley, who went missing in Hickling almost a week ago.

David was last seen on Wednesday 13 February 2024. A member of the public raised the alarm on Saturday 17 February 2024 shortly after 3pm when his boat was found in reeds at Candle Dyke.

Water search teams from Norfolk Lowland Search and Rescue, Norfolk Fire and Rescue Service and Norfolk Constabulary’s Marine Unit have been focussing their work in and around Hickling Broad.

Inspector Ben Hardiman who is leading the investigation said:

“Given David’s sudden disappearance and the length of time he has now been missing, we are becoming increasingly concerned for his welfare.

“There will be a police presence in the area over the coming days as we continue our efforts to find him.

“Due to the possibility that David has entered the water, our searches will focus on this area. So far, we have completed extensive CCTV enquiries, spoken to local residents and searched surrounding land. We are working through a multiple of lines of enquiry as a result.

“I would like to thank the public with their assistance with this appeal so far and urge anyone with any information about David’s whereabouts to contact us.”

Anyone with any information should contact Norfolk Police immediately on 101 quoting incident number 271 of 17 February 2024.
