Searches are continuing today to trace missing man – 65-year-old David Cubberley from the Hickling area who was last seen on Wednesday 13 February.

A member of the public raised the alarm on Saturday 17 February 2024 shortly after 3pm when his boat, normally moored near to the Pleasure Boat Inn, was found in reeds at Candle Dyke.

David was not found on the boat and has not been seen or heard from since. His dog was found nearby on land by a member of the public and has been taken to a local vet.

David is described as white, of slim build with shoulder length white hair.

Searches have been carried out with assistance from the constabulary’s Marine Unit, drone team, Norfolk Fire and Rescue Service and the Coastguard.

We are concerned for David’s welfare and following the discovery of his boat, much of our search has been focused in and around Hickling Broad. We are focusing on a number of lines of enquiry, including examining CCTV, however there is a real possibility that David has entered the water and therefore our searches on the water continue.

There will be a continued police presence in the area over the coming days.

Police would like to hear from anyone who may have seen David or his boat, an older 2-berth motor-vessel in a cream/white colour, or anyone who knows of his current whereabouts.

Anyone with information should contact Norfolk Police immediately on 101 quoting incident number 271 of 17 February 2024.
