The search for a man who went missing from his home in Great Yarmouth more than two weeks ago has been scaled back.

Manuel Pereira, aged 62, has not been seen since he left his home in Nelson Road Central at around 4.15am on Monday 19 August 2024.

Following searches by specially trained officers and police resources, including drones and Broads Beat officers, and working with HM Coastguard, police say there hasn’t been any trace of Manuel.

The force say hours of CCTV footage have been examined by officers to try to piece together Manuel’s potential movements or likely routes away from his home in Nelson Road Central, and review potential sightings.

Police say every reported sighting from within the borough and beyond has been investigated, but none have been confirmed.

Around 2,000 leaflets in English and Portuguese have been distributed and buildings, gardens and wasteland within the search parameter searched.

There have been extensive house-to-house enquiries and appeals made for the public to check outbuildings, sheds and greenhouses and review any doorbell and dashcam footage.

Policing commander for Great Yarmouth, Superintendent Craig Miller said: “It has now been over two weeks since Manuel went missing and I’m sorry to say there hasn’t been any sign of him or any confirmed sighting.

“We have spoken to his family and explained that while local officers will continue to carry out regular patrols looking for Manuel, we can no longer actively resource a search operation.

“The investigation remains open and although we have exhausted all lines of enquiry up to this point, we would still like to hear from anyone who may have seen Manuel or knows of his whereabouts. We will, of course, review any new information that comes in to us.”

Manuel is described as black, bald, of slim build, and around 5ft 11ins tall.

He is believed to be wearing a knee-length black padded coat over the top of a blue Tommy Hilfiger coat, a red and white t-shirt, blue jeans, Adidas grey trainers, and possibly a black hat.
