WEATHER: school closures in Norfolk as snow and ice warnings continue
The Met Office are urging people to take care on roads and pavements
A yellow warning for snow and ice is in place for Norfolk today, which is already causing issues across the county.
A number of schools are closed due to health and safety reasons, or because of boiler failures. They include:
- Brisley Church Of England Primary Academy (NR20 5LH) - School is closed today due to unsafe conditions. Remote learning in place, emails sent out to all parents.
- The Fen Rivers Academy (PE30 2HU) - Following a health and safety site risk assessment the difficult decision has been taken to close the school due to compacted snow and ice on the approach roads and once on site. A decision will be taken tomorrow regarding operations on Wednesday in light of site safety and the weather forecast and this page will be updated. Your children's safety travelling and once on site is our priority.
- Greenpark Academy (PE30 2RE) - Heating failure in the main school building. School closed for children reception to Y6. Online learning will be provided via Class Dojo. Nursery will still be open as this building is unaffected.
- Rudham Church Of England Primary Academy (PE31 8RF) - Due to no hot water, we are unable to open. Email and text message sent to parents. Remote learning via online systems.
A warning from the Met Office will stay in place until 11am today (6th January). They say journey times could take longer because of icy roads and are urging people to be careful on pavements.
