A Norfolk MP tells us restoring King's Lynn's Guildhall could be a 'game-changer' which puts the town on the world map.

King's Lynn's St George's Guildhall is thought to have hosted performances by Shakespeare in 1592 or 1593.

It's as £0 million is going to be the town as part of Government plans to regenerate the area and deliver more growth.

In March 2024- the then Chancellor of the Exchequer, Jeremy Hunt reaffirmed that King's Lynn and four other towns in the East would be getting this funding.

"That will help to drive footfall into the town"

James Wild represents North West Norfolk and is from the Conservatives:

"The benefits are broad and will benefit everyone locally and bring more people in.

"The Library is going to be very exciting, it's been designed by local children and is far bigger than the current facility.

"That will help to drive footfall into the town, as well as providing educational benefits, which means that shops, cafes and restaurants will also benefit from this.

He says funding needs to go beyond this part of this part of his constituency:

"We also need to improve our digital infrastructure as well. I have just done a survey of constituents on mobile and broadband coverage in and around Hunstanton, on the coast.

"It's clear that there needs to be more investment from both commercial groups and the Government when it comes to improving rural connectivity"

More on the 'Town Deal':

The local authority say that this money will be put towards:

-Innovative, growth businesses and creating a skilled workforce
