90 per cent of Greater Anglia’s train services won’t run today (Saturday 23rd July), due to a 24-hour rail strike by union ASLEF.

People have been warned not to travel by train as Greater Anglia’s regional services covering Norfolk, Suffolk and Essex won't be operating.

There will be no rail replacement buses available for passengers whose trains have been cancelled.

Further disruptions are expected on Sunday 24th July on all routes into London Liverpool Street because of engineering work.

Jamie Burles, managing director of Greater Anglia said: “We know that the weekend of 23/24 July is really busy - the start of the summer holidays, the Latitude Festival and other events in London.

“We are genuinely very sorry for all the inconvenience these strikes will cause for our customers, especially on Saturday 23rd July when it’s followed by major engineering works the next day.

“Negotiations to try to resolve the pay issue causing the strikes are continuing at an industry level and we hope we can resolve this situation soon.”

Trains to London Liverpool Street from Norwich, Colchester, Stansted and Southend Victoria will be running each hour on Saturday.

Other train operators in the region - Elizabeth line, c2c, Cross Country, EMR, Great Northern and London Overground - are not affected by strike on Saturday 23 July.

Refunds are available for passengers who bought a ticket for a strike day.

Alternatively you can use the ticket the day before or the two days after the strike, or change the ticket to a different date.

Another rail strike has been planned to go ahead on Saturday 30th July.
