Proposed expansion for popular fishing lake in Norfolk

A fishing lake that has gone untouched for more than two decades could be brought back into use after a club saw a dramatic increase in membership.
The Bungay Cherry Tree Angling Club has asked the Broads Authority if it can expand its space at Orchard House in Geldeston.
It wants to install 20 new fishing platforms, clear brambles from around the lake and level the terrain.
It also wants to create 20 new parking spaces.
The lake was last used around 2000 and has become overgrown over the years.
The club says the expansion is needed because it has seen a dramatic increase in membership over the last four years, from 270 to 450.
A planning statement to the Broads Authority said: “Orchard Lake is ideal as it has been used previously as a fishing lake, is a good size and compliments the club’s other still waters.
“Easy access makes it suitable for all, particularly older members and those with limited mobility.”
The application will be decided in due course
