A 'prolific' burglar, who had links to break-ins across Lowestoft, has been jailed for almost seven years.

34 year old Shane McRoberts, of Ailmar Close, was jailed at Ipswich Crown Court on February 2, after admitting to seven different offences.

He pleaded guilty to being involved in two burglaries and one attempted burglary, as well as three counts of fraud and one of possession of cannabis.

McRoberts was arrested on November 7 2022 and was subsequently charged.

Detective Inspector Jamie Rose, of Suffolk Constabulary, said: “Shane McRoberts was prolific in his offending and would have continued to cause suffering to more victims given the opportunity.

“Many of these crimes involved deliberately targeting properties where he believed the occupants may be either elderly or vulnerable.

“Following the exceptional work of our team at East CID to get him charged with seven offences, the Operation Converter Team then built on this and did further great work to get him to admit to a further 16 offences which were TIC’d.

“As a result, that has enabled us to detect 23 crimes in total attributed to McRoberts and I’m sure all the victims of these crimes will be both pleased and relieved to see that the court has handed down a lengthy sentence.”
