Poundland has announced it will shut a number of it's stores temporarily from Saturday 9th January across the UK despite being classed as an essential retailer.

The discount chain says it has been impacted by an 80% drop in footfall across some shopping centres and high streets due to Covid-19 restrictions.

It's got over 800 stores across the country, so the majority will remain open, but its shop in Britten Shopping Centre in Lowestoft will be among those that temporarily cease trading.

The site at Castle Quarter, Norwich, will also shut temporarily.
