Police carry out over 450 hours of visible patrols across Norfolk
Operation Focus tackles anti-social behaviour and violent crime
Police in Norfolk have delivered over 450 hours of visible patrols during an intensification week aimed at tackling anti-social behaviour and violent crime.
The patrols took place between 10th-16th November 2025 as part of Operation Focus, a government-funded initiative that provides the force with additional resources for high visibility policing.
Officers worked alongside partners to enforce Public Space Protection Orders, which are aimed at keeping public spaces safe and accessible, and engaged with residents to address concerns.
Measures to address crime
As part of the week, officers visited town centres and local businesses to raise awareness and promote reporting of crime. Retailers received tailored crime prevention advice, and targeted patrols were carried out to address retail crime. Norfolk Police currently has the highest rate of charges for shoplifting offences in England and Wales, with a solve rate of 46%.
Insp Toby Gosden also attended the Great Yarmouth Business Crime Summit alongside the neighbourhood team to provide updates on progress made under Operation Focus over the past year. Foot patrols have contributed to a 23% reduction in anti-social behaviour and violent crime across 18 of the 21 identified hotspots in the county over the last six months.
Visible impact
Since 25th June 2025, officers have delivered over 6,000 hours of visible policing. Insp Toby Gosden emphasised the importance of being present within the community.
“Having officers on the ground has been incredibly impactful. The public have said how nice it is to see officers patrolling in their local area,” Gosden said.
“By concentrating resources and working collaboratively with partners, we’ve not only reduced crime in key areas but also strengthened relationships with the community.”
The force remains committed to reducing crime and anti-social behaviour and ensuring public spaces across Norfolk are safe and welcoming.
