Police working to trace next of kin after man found dead in River Yare

Enquiries are underway to trace the next of kin after the body of a man was discovered in the River Yare near Foundry Bridge in Norwich yesterday.

Emergency services were called to the scene on Prince of Wales Road at 12.47pm following reports of a body in the water.

A man, believed to be in his 70s, was recovered from the river and pronounced dead at the scene.

Police have said that while the death is being treated as unexplained, it is not believed to be suspicious.

A file is being prepared for the coroner, and officers are continuing enquiries to formally identify the man and inform his next of kin.
