Police called for second time to large gathering in Great Yarmouth
It's believed to be linked to the death of a teenager.
Police have been called to North Drive in Great Yarmouth for a second time this weekend.
Officers were called to reports of more than a hundred people gathered at around 2pm on Sunday 7th March.
Police say it's believed the gathering is linked to the tragic death of a teenager who died following an incident on North Drive on Tuesday 2nd March.
Officers say they were there to encourage and engage about Covid regulations, and that enforcement would only be used as a last resort.
Road closures were put in place while police were there.
Temporary Chief Superintendent Dave Buckley said: "We are working to disperse the gathering in a controlled manner, taking the safety of those in attendance and our officers into account.
"Whilst we understand that people would like to pay their respects, we must remember that the restrictions are in place for a reason and we all have a responsibility to protect those around us.
"We will continue to do what we need to do to keep people safe, which includes taking a proportionate level of action in response to any breaches of public health or other offences.”
It comes after officers were called to the same area on Saturday evening to reports of an illegal rave.
Over a hundred people had gathered on North Drive at around 7pm, officers shut down the event just after 10pm.
Three men were arrested at the scene, a number of fines and warnings were also issued in relation to Covid regulation breaches.
