Police have been left scratching their heads after stopping a traction engine pulling two trailers and a Land Rover along the A47 yesterday.

It was going at around 5mph, with the driver of the vintage engine trying to travel a distance of around 40 miles between Strumpshaw and Great Ellingham.

The convoy was pulled over between Postwick and Trowse in poor weather conditions at around midday after officers spotted drivers queueing up to get past it.

Ultimately police decided the engine could continue on its journey, with the Land Rover being used as an escort vehicle instead of being towed.
