A new nursery is set to open near Norwich as plans to transform an old village hall have been given the green light.
Easton Parish Council has been granted permission to convert the building in Marlingford Road into a new Treetops Nursery – which currently shares a site with St Peters’ Primary School.
This comes as a replacement £2.5m community centre is set to open this spring, having faced a number of setbacks since work began last year.
The former village hall will be repurposed as a nursery as part of a “strategic response to the growing demands of the community”, with the existing Treetops Nursery already faced with a considerable waiting list.
It is understood the scheme would increase the capacity of the nursery by 57pc.
Plans show the building will be divided into two nursery spaces, along with a breakfast area, staff break room and kitchen.
A report to South Norfolk Council said the development would “breathe new life into the vacant space” and “enhance the overall well-being of the community”.
